Joe Warren’s superb 55 backed up by Michael Hattey robust 41 rescued Wargrave’s innings and enabled them to reach 195 before being bowled out in 37 overs. Hayes’ Tarsem Kumar and Raheel Siddique took three wickets apiece, but with extras joint second top scoring, Hayes missed their opportunity to bowl out Wargrave for a much lower score.
The innings of Hayes never developed momentum and only managed 71 before being bowled out within 19 overs. The four Wargrave bowlers Freddie Lanch (7-1-35-2), Sam Peppal (5-0-17-3), Andrew Hattey (4-0-8-2) and Kevin Rapley (2.3-0-5-3) all had deserved success and helped to maintain Wargrave’s strong first half of the season.
