Emphatic loss to strong Embrook side

Emmbrook and Bearwood CC - 3rd XI emerged victorious in a one sided encounter against Wargrave CC - 4th XI in the Berkshire Cricket League Division 4 match held at the impressive Reading School on Saturday 20th May 2023. In a match that showcased great sportsmanship and skill, both teams gave their all, but it was Emmbrook and Bearwood who eventually secured a well-deserved win.

Emmbrook and Bearwood won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved to be fruitful. Wargrave CC struggled to find their footing as their batsmen faced a disciplined and determined bowling attack. Tom Tabrah fell early, being dismissed lbw by Akilan Nilavalagan for just 1 run. Dave Jeary tried to stabilize the innings with a patient knock of 10 runs, but run-outs and regular wickets hampered Wargrave's progress.
Rajiv Dhallam showed some resistance, scoring 15 runs, including three boundaries, but fell victim to Alec McNab's bowling. The rest of the batting lineup struggled to make an impact, with only father and son Sam and John Beale offering some resistance with 16 and 17 runs respectively (John hitting some big shots at the end). Wargrave CC eventually succumbed to the relentless bowling attack and were all out for 86 runs in 32.5 overs. The Emmbrook and Bearwood bowlers shared the spoils, with Alex Brain and Matt Whiddett taking two wickets each.
