U9s v Hurst

The U9s returned to winning ways with a great all round display against Hurst.

Hurst were put into bat and got off to a flying start. However whilst James Anderson was ripping through the Sri Lankans at Headingley, our own James (Lamacraft) went one better by getting a hat trick (3 wickets in consecutive balls) at The Rec. From that point on wickets fell regularly, with Ollie, Teo, Sam and Max all picking up wickets. Some good tight bowling by the rest of the team, along with impressive fielding limited Hurst to 228 for 9.

Hurst possessed one of the fastest bowlers we've seen in U9 games, so it wasn't going to be easy and after two overs we'd lost two wickets. However from that point on the boys took charge and batted through the rest of the innings without the loss of any more. A combination of explosive hitting, and sensible running between the wickets meant victory was in sight. Boundaries scored by Sam, Harry, Xavier, Ollie and Max, alongside some solid batting from Eddie, Joseph and Ash meant a great score of 275 for 2 was achieved.

A really good all round performance with only 4 wides bowled by the boys, catches and run outs, when fielding and no run outs when we were batting ! Well done boys - one rest day before we return to action at Kidmore End.
