A young Wargrave team faced Hurley on Thursday evening. Captain Taran Sohi won the toss and choose to bowl, this was a slow innings, with a lot of the new players coming up to the U13 team having to deal with extras in a different way. A big learning curve but a good effort from the bowlers, a wicket from Chris Hattey, Max James, and 3 run outs, with a neat couple of overs from Tom Walker, resulted in Hurley finishing their overs at 160 for 5.
This was a big target for the Wargrave side to chase, with a quick few wickets and light fading fast, the boys seemed to be struggling. Then with the help of Freddie Collins, Chris Hattey and an strong performance from Tom Walker who retired on 33, we managed to get 109 for 8.
A lot to learn from this first game, but a real strong team spirit showed between the boys. Looking forward to a good season ahead.
Our next game is Wednesday away to Hurst.
