Wargrave V North Maidenhead 2 - Report

Winning the toss on a green track with a bit of weather in the air, captain for the day, John Rimmer asked North Maids to bat. The seam attack of Rimmer (2-36) and Clark (4-24) made the first dent in the opposition batting line up. Both taking one wicket each in their opening spell. First change Euan Woods(3-7) came on to bowl a bit of medium pace and took wicket with his first ball. Two good catches from wicket keeper Alex Woods in Euan's first over meant he was 2 for 0 off 1. He took another wicket along the way with a good catch from Dan Davies, and finishing with figures of 3 for 7. Mandip Sohi(1-21) came on the other end and created a lot of pressure from his spell, going at just over 2 an over. His one wicket dismissed the opening batsman, which meant the tail was now fully exposed. Huw Thomas (0-14)had a go at the tail for 4 overs, but a couple of chances didn't quite fall and it wasn't going to be his day. John and Jack came back on to the remove the tail and it was't long before the visitors were all out for 110.

In reply, Mandip(60) and Dan (3) got off to a flying start, Dan was removed in the 9th over, with the partnership on 40. Matt Eldridge (1) on debut came in at number 3, with the ball still moving about and jumping off the pitch, Matt did very well to see off the opening bowlers. North Maidenhead then turned to their spin options and this seemed to work. Taking 3 wickets for 10 runs in 5 overs.Mandip, Euan (0) and Matt all removed by the two spinners. Alex Woods (8*) and Chris Lunn(19*) were at the crease with 18 to win. They saw off the winning runs in just a few overs to give Wargrave their 3rd win of the season and move us up to 4th in the table.
