On losing the toss on a green a damp wicket Wargrave quickly found themselves in trouble at 32/4 with Matt, Neal, Alex Woods and Jon all back in the pavilion before the 10th over. A mix of tight bowling and loose shots proving the undoing of the Wargrave top order. Alex Hands first in partnership with Euan and then Simon began the rebuild but at 88/6 it was not looking good however some excellent and mature batting from Alex and Jack pulled Wargrave up to a respectable total with Alex top scoring with 48.
While 164 represented a below par total but something to bowl at and when a combination of Simon and Alex Woods reduced T&T to 30/3 it was very much game on. However some mature batting from the young opening batsman and a drying pitch neutralised much of the fizz in the Wargrave attack. A couple of missed chances at critical times also did not help. The ground fielding however was excellent. Huw in particular bowled much better than his one wicket suggested.
So in summary not the perfect start but some positives from Jack, Alex and Huw to take into next week's first home game against Thatcham Town.
