Well with a fine but not always comfortable win over local rivals Littlewick Green. Put in to bat by their visitors, young Wargrave openers Davies and Hester set about seeing the new ball off well before a change of bowling saw Davies removed for 9. Hester was then dismissed for 14 which saw Euan Woods join vice-captain Neal Robinson at the crease. Both began somewhat cautiously before taking the attack to the bowling, Woods in particular unleashing some glorious drives. Both fell in the sixties, Woods, 69, and Robinson, 60, for what were both very well made early season half- centuries. Returning superstar Alex Woods, continuing an ever-growing trend of being out performed by his younger brother as he fell first ball and then after some good late order hitting from wicket keeper Hands 19, Wargrave finished with 225-7 from their 45 overs.
Littlewick began their reply strongly with opener Arslan particularly taking a liking to Wargrave veteran Smith and the score stood at 52 after 7 number of Overs. Eventually Clark was able to remove Arslan (in the 30's and then the introduction of young spinners Euan Woods and Archie Withers changed the game. Both bowled beautifully with figures of (9-2-28-4) and (9-0-32-1)respectively. Thomas (2-15) finished off the job at the end and Littlewick eventually closed on 184, leaving Wargrave to celebrate a good early season victory.
