After a friendly victory over Hurley last week, the u11s got their league campaign off to a flying start with a win over neighbours Twyford Lightning. Both teams included a number of younger and less experienced players, and thankfully the rain stayed away.
Wargrave batted first with Freddie getting the boys off to a good start, top scoring with 19. Achint, Ash, Zack and Joseph all found the boundary rope too, helping the boys to an impressive total of 318 (start at 200) in their 20 overs.
When it was our turn to bowl, the boys kept the pressure on, despite some strong batting from the Twyford openers. They didn't bowl an extra for the first five overs - so well done to Freddie, Sam B, Sam W, Ash and Joseph (who also got a wicket). And three run outs through the innings showed that they were on their toes in the field. Harry was an excellent example of this with one of the run outs and some good stops. Jake produced some good deliveries, and Charlie contributed throughout, to produce a great team performance.
Well played boys.
